“The tourist hub will remain open on Saturdays and Sundays every week from 4 pm till 9 pm during the summers and 3 pm till 8 pm during the winters. Cultural events would be included to entertain the tourists,” Chowdhury told the media at the Civil Secretariat this evening.
“Proper police deployment would be made to maintain law and order. Besides, CCTV cameras will be installed and strict vigil will be maintained from the watch tower,” Chowdhury added.
Besides cultural events, different food stalls would be installed, officials said.
The Tourism Department made a few decisions around the weekend tourist hub which included keeping the Ujjayanta Palace and State Museum open every day with light and sound shows and introduction of photo counters at the garden area of the state museum where the tourists could get photos of themselves wearing traditional outfit and jewellery etc.
