Three persons were arrested and a minor was apprehended by the Mumbai police in connection with the murder of a 22-year-old man in Trombay area on Sunday night.
The main accused, a 17-year-old with prior criminal record, had put up a social media post titled “302 and 307 lovers” earlier. While 302 is the Indian Penal Code section for murder, 307 is the section for attempt to murder. Those two sections were applied against him and others in the case.
An officer from Trombay police station said that the incident took place on Sunday night at the D Sector area of Trombay. Around 9.30pm, the deceased Malik Shaikh along with two of his friends, Haider Khan and Armaan Shaikh, were on a ground when the 17-year-old boy along with three other accused — Ameen Shaikh, Kaif Shah and Abdul Kanan — approached them.
The accused asked Armaan why his brother was talking to a girl who was friends with Kaif. As per the complainant Haider Khan, when Malik and his friend tried to respond, Kaif and Ameen, held his hands while the minor allegedly stabbed him multiple times. When Armaan tried to intervene, the accused stabbed him as well.
Haider said that when he tried to intervene, they injured him as well. The accused then fled from the spot and passersby rushed the trio to Rajawadi hospital where Malik was declared dead. Based on the complaint given by Haider Khan, the Trombay police registered a case of murder, attempt to murder among other IPC sections and started looking for the accused.
An officer said that police have arrested the three accused and also detained the minor who has a prior FIR against him.
