Have proof of BJP trying to hack EVMs: Mamata | Kolkata News
Hitting out at the BJP and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said that the 26-party Opposition alliance – INDIA — will form the government in Delhi after the Lok Sabha polls next year and save the country from disaster, communal tension and unemployment. She also claimed that she has “evidence” of “BJP trying to hack the EVMs”.
“Delhi is the capital of India. We are going to win Delhi. This also means that INDIA is going to win,” the TMC supremo said at a press briefing at Nabanna, the state secretariat.
Taking a swipe at Union Home Minister Amit Shah for asking the INDIA alliance partners to think about Delhi and not about the alliance, Banerjee said: “Our INDIA alliance is new, and our existence is all over the country. Of course, we will form the government and Delhi is the capital, which also houses Parliament. I don’t know whether intentionally or unintentionally he (Home Minister) has said the correct thing.”
The TMC chief also alleged that there was evidence of the BJP trying to hack the electronic voting machines (EVMs) in an attempt to win elections in the country. “They (BJP) have already begun their planning (for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections). They are making various arrangements to hack electronic voting machines. We have received such information and have already found some evidence. We are also looking for more. This will be discussed during the next meeting with INDIA alliance members, whenever the date for the same is finalised,” she said.
Pointing to the communal tension in Haryana and ethnic strife in Manipur, Banerjee also accused the BJP of fanning violence in the country for winning elections. “Violence has always been a part of the BJP’s dictionary. Their dictionary does not have words like Constitution in it, but only violence. They attack Dalits, tribals, and minorities. Now, they are asking about the religion of reporters before harassing them. They feel there is no progress without violence. Using violence, they want to saffronise everything. Even petrol pump attendants are made to wear saffron uniforms. BJP has nothing else to offer. If the entire country is saffronised, where will the other colours go,” the TMC chief asked.
