Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij Friday disclosed that so far, the state police have registered 102 FIRs related to the violence that erupted in Nuh and its neighbouring areas. He added that in total, 202 persons have been arrested and so far and 80 others have been detained for questioning.
“The police are working on the principle that the innocent should not be punished and the guilty should not be spared. That’s why action has to be taken after collecting solid evidence. Not a single culprit will be spared,” Vij said while interacting with mediapersons.
Talking about those who have been detained, Vij said, “Those who have been detained are being interrogated as per the law and action is being taken according to the information being received.”
On how the Friday namaz is being conducted, Vij said, “I have spoken to the Deputy Commissioners of Nuh, Faridabad and Gurugram and instructions have been issued to ensure adequate security arrangements. For remaining parts of Haryana, I have also discussed with the Chief Secretary that there should be adequate arrangements for peace wherever namaz is being offered. Adequate police deployment has also been made. We have also held talks with the maulvis, appealing them to offer namaz at home Friday. It will be a good thing if they do so.”
About monitoring social media, Vij said, “A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Special Secretary, Home Department, in which an officer from the IT cell has also been included, who is responsible for social media monitoring. If provocative posts are posted on social media by anybody, adequate legal action shall be taken against such persons.”
