Pankaj Tripathi on OMG 2 controversies, says it’s ‘not a film on sex education’: ‘We are responsible, educated people’ | Bollywood News

Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 has been through the ringer ahead of its release and now, when the film has gotten an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification, the film’s actor Pankaj Tripathi has said that this is “not a film on sex education.” Pankaj plays the central role in the film who is being guided by the ‘messenger of God’, played by Akshay.

In a chat with ANI, Pankaj said that it was Akshay Kumar who narrated him the film on a Zoom call with the film’s director Amit Rai and creative producer Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi. Pankaj added that they are “responsible, educated” people who understand cinema and were very careful while making the film. He recalled that for one of his lines, which referenced an Upanishad, he asked the director to send him the original text so he could verify it. “Because if you are giving the reference of some text then I should know it is from that book or you have come up with it yourself,” he said.

The film was sent to CBFC’s revising committee which eventually directed to make 27 modifications. The modifications include removal of the poster of a condom ad, visuals of what was described as ‘sculptures of unnatural sex’, among many other changes. There have been reports stating that the film deals with the subject of sex education but Pankaj said that the film isn’t just about that.

He said, “This is not a film on sex education. It is simple story and towards the end, the sex education part comes up. It doesn’t even conclude there. It leaves it up to the viewer that you use your wisdom to think about it.” Yami Gautam, who also stars in the film, said that there is nothing in the film to make the viewers “skeptical” about its content. “This is an important, sensitive subject especially for children’s education. It has been shown sensitively via a courtroom drama,” she said.

OMG 2 releases in theatres on August 11.
