Twisted Metal is Peacock’s ‘most binged’ comedy premere to date

Twisted Metal is Peacock’s “most binged” comedy premiere to date, NBCUniversal claims.

As reported by Deadline, the 10-episode series, which was added to Peacock in its entirety on July 27, has performed relatively well by the media company’s standards.

According to NBCUniversal, viewers of the show watched on average three episodes back-to-back, with some even watching all 10 in a row.

Total viewing figures haven’t been provided, but Nielsen ratings data says the show clocked up 400 million viewing minutes in the weekend after it premiered, a figure Deadline says made it one of the most-watched streaming originals of the week.

The show has had a mixed response from critics, and is currently sitting on a Metacritic score of 53 and a Rotten Tomatoes critic score of 68% (albeit with a 94% audience score).

Twisted Metal is an original take on PlayStation’s vehicular combat series executive produced by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers of the Deadpool films and Zombieland. Michael Jonathan Smith, who wrote for and produced Cobra Kai, wrote and executive produced the show too.

According to Peacock’s official synopsis, the series follows “a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

“With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.”

A UK release date for the series has yet to be confirmed.
