Centre delays Pune bypoll as Kasba poll showed BJP’s fading support: Congress’s Praniti Shinde | Pune News
Maharashtra Congress MLA Praniti Shinde, daughter of party veteran Sushilkumar Shinde, said Monday that the BJP does not want to hold the bypoll to the Pune Lok Sabha seat because of the debacle it suffered in the Kasba Peth Assembly bypoll held in the city.
“The Congress defeated the BJP in its bastion of Kasba. The voters showed the BJP its fading support. This is the reason the BJP, in power at the Centre, has avoided the bypoll to Pune Lok Sabha seat, which has been vacant since the death of Girish Bapat,” said Shinde, who is the party observer for the constituency.
Shinde said the Congress was now the only political party that could provide a stable government in the state. “There are splits in the NCP and the Shiv Sena, while the Congress is intact. The MVA will contest elections in the state and defeat the BJP, which has lost the trust of voters,” the MLA said.

The public is fed up with the BJP strategy of poaching leaders of other political parties and it will teach the saffron party a lesson, she said, adding that there was anti-BJP wave in the state.
Congress leaders say the party has started preparations in all the 48 Lok Sabha seats. Shinde reviewed the work in the Maval and Pune Lok Sabha constituencies for the forthcoming elections.
The MLA said the review was held on the basis of Assembly segments within the two constituencies. Party workers have been asked to work hard to win the voters’ confidence, she added.
