Just when you thought the Saudi Pro League had surprised you all it could with the names that it has acquired over the past few months from top European Leagues, another one arrived on Tuesday. And not just any other name.
Neymar Jr. is now a Al Hilal player, as confirmed by the club statement. Financial details have not been disclosed but the transfer is reported to be for a fee of about 90 million euros plus add-ons and subject to a medical.
It is done. Another supertstar of world football, who wore the Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain colors not long ago will now be a regular in the SPL.
The club also confirmed the same with a video on social media with the 31-year-old stating, “I am here in Saudi Arabia, i am HILALI.”
Neymar had moved from Barcelona to PSG in the summer of 2017 for a world record fee of 222 million euros.
During his stint with the Ligue 1 club, Neymar scored 118 goals in 173 appearances for the Paris club and won five league titles.
