Ghaziabad police Friday arrested a 21-year-old gym trainer for allegedly killing a mobile shop owner, whose body was recovered on Thursday near the Hindon police outpost.
Police said that during questioning, accused Ayush Sharma, a resident of Sanjay colony who used to work at a gym in Vasundhara, said he had lent Rs 3.5 lakh to Dikshit Pal, who ran a mobile shop, for buying iPhones. When Pal could not return the money, Ayush called him at his home on Thursday and killed him with a baseball bat, said police.
“After killing the man, Ayush stuffed the body in a sack and threw it on the bank of Hindon river where he reached by riding the scooter owned by the deceased. Police said the scooter as well as the baseball bat used in the incident have been recovered,” said Shubham Patel, DCP (Trans-Hindon), Ghaziabad.
The accused is being sent to judicial custody and further legal action is being taken, he said.
Another official said Ayush wanted to enter into a partnership with Pal who had promised to get him iPhones at cheaper rates. “Looking for profit, Ayush gave him the money around 15 days back. But Pal could not keep his promise,” the cop said.
