When Vijay praised Shah Rukh Khan’s performance in Baazigar, Darr: ‘If I am offered roles such as his…’ | Tamil News
Director Atlee Kumar and Tamil actor Thalapathy Vijay’s camaraderie can be traced back to 2014, shortly after the former’s impressive directorial debut with the movie Raja Rani, starring Arya and Nayanthara in the lead roles.
After Vijay expressed his interest in collaborating with Atlee, the two joined forces to create the blockbuster Tamil action thriller Theri in 2016. This partnership continued in two more films, Mersal in 2017 and Bigil in 2019, both achieving tremendous box-office success.
Now, as Atlee prepares for the release of his first Hindi directorial venture Jawan, starring Bollywood’s Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role, rumours have circulated suggesting that Vijay might have a cameo appearance in the film. While no official confirmation has been provided by the makers, cinephiles have been busy concocting their own theories.
Adding to the excitement is an old interview that has resurfaced, in which Vijay praises Shah Rukh Khan’s performances in negative roles in movies like Baazigar and Darr. Vijay mentions that he would be open to taking on negative roles if presented with similar characters.

“I am not against negative roles,” he remarked, and continued, “I have done (such) a role in one of my previous films titled Priyamudan. But I am not 100 per cent comfortable with an anti-hero character. But, maybe, if I am offered roles such as Shah Rukh’s Baazigar or Darr, then I think would consider.”
Bankrolled by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma for Red Chillies Entertainment, Jawan also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover and Yogi Babu in key roles. The film will also have a cameo appearance by Deepika Padukone. The film will hit the theatres on September 7.
Meanwhile, Thalapathy Vijay concluded filming his parts for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming movie Leo last month. Starring Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun and Gautham Vasudev Menon in key roles, this marks Lokesh’s return to the director’s chair after the globally successful Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram last year.
