Uttar Pradesh: 3 minors, 14 men held for objectionable remarks against religion, say police | Lucknow News

Days after two minor boys were detained for allegedly making objectionable remarks against a particular religion on social media leading to a protest in Bareilly district’s Sheesgarh town, police have detained three more boys and 14 others in this connection.

All five boys are from the same school, police said. On Friday, a group of people belonging to a minority community held a protest outside the house of a 14-year-old boy, a Class IX student, who had allegedly made objectionable remarks against their religion on social media, police said.

The boy, who belongs to a different community, allegedly made remarks during an online chat with his 14-year-old classmate, who also made “objectionable” remarks, police said.

The protesters allegedly pelted stones at the boy’s house and entered into arguments with police who were trying to pacify them.

Police said 15 protesters, including a minor boy, were booked under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 341 (wrongful restraint) and others.
