Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar and Ashok Chavan hold discussions ahead of INDIA meeting next week | Mumbai News
Ahead of the Opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA)’s meeting in Mumbai on August 31 and September 1, senior leaders of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) including Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray, NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Congress leader Ashok Chavan met on Wednesday at Grand Hyatt hotel in Mumbai, the venue of Opposition’s INDIA alliance meeting to oversee the preparations and discuss the key details.
This will be the third meeting of the INDIA alliance, followed by Patna and Bengaluru. “A discussion about the INDIA alliance meeting took place on Wednesday during the meeting. Nearly 28 parties of the country will be gathering in this hotel. A review of the preparation was taken in the meeting and discussion about the agenda of the meeting also took place. On August 30, Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray will be holding a press conference to give information about the meeting and its agenda,” Raut said.
Speaking about the inclusion of smaller and regional parties, Raut said that some parties from the northeast have approached and a decision will be taken about it by all the parties.
Wednesday’s meeting was attended by several leaders from NCP, Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and the leaders from Shetkari Kamgaar Paksh during which the agenda of the INDIA meeting was discussed and it was decided that Uddhav and Sharad Pawar will be addressing the press conference on August 30.
Convenors appointed for the INDIA alliance may also be named after the meeting.
According to sources, during the INDIA meeting in Mumbai on August 31 and September 1, a logo of the INDIA alliance may be unveiled, and two convenors of the alliance may also be appointed. The source said during the meeting that there is a possibility of formation of a co-ordination committee and the decision on it would be taken by all the parties.

“The key issues of the country will also be discussed during the INDIA meeting and accordingly the statement highlighting the major and crucial issues of the country will be released after the meeting,” a senior leader said.
The INDIA meeting is being hosted by Shiv Sena (UBT) in Mumbai. While Uddhav Thackeray will be hosting the dinner party for the visiting dignitaries at the venue on August 31, on September 1 the meeting will take place at the same venue followed by a press conference.
At the second opposition unity meeting in Bengaluru, the 26 opposition parties agreed to the new name of the alliance INDIA, which was proposed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
