A day after scuffle between the supporters of different student unions and members of AAP student union in the presence of its MLA Devinderjeet Singh Laddi Dhos, who is also the incharge of CYSS, several other student unions on Thursday condemned the incident and slammed the Punjab government over the killing of a farmer in Punjab.
The Aam Adami Party (AAP) and its student wing, CYSS, were criticised for the incident by the Student Organisation of India (SOI) and Indian Student Association (ISA). Meanwhile, Panjab University (PU) Security Officer Vikram Singh, urged the local police to increase their strength in the institute.
“Yesterday’s (Wednesday’s) incident was unfortunate. We also urged leaders of all the student parties to not indulge in hooliganism and violence. In the coming days, special checking will start at all the entry gates of PU to stop the outsiders and suspicious people. Indeed, we have a strength of around 250 security personnel in our security wing, the strength will be mobilised in view of the upcoming student body elections in PU,” Vikram said.
Opposite student unions had raised objection on the presence of MLA Dhos, who had come to the campus for facilitating the joining of supporters of different student organisations into CYSS on Wednesday. His presence caused verbal altercation and broke out a scuffle. Later, CYSS student leader, Navaldeep Singh, filed a police complaint at Sector 11 police station.
