Minor girl heading to college abducted and stabbed in Bengaluru by ‘jilted’ cab driver | Bangalore News

A cab driver allegedly abducted and stabbed a college student before being caught by police on Monday morning. The incident occurred at Ramanagara and the girl is battling for her life at a hospital in Bengaluru.

Chetan D N, who was working as a cab driver, allegedly forced 17-year old Sanjana, who was on her way to attend classes at Women’s College, into a car. After her classmates alerted college authorities, the police were informed about the abduction.

According to the police, Chetan drove Sanjana around the outskirts of Ramanagara and stopped along the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway. An argument ensued between the two, during which Chetan allegedly stabbed the minor girl inside the car. As the bleeding intensified, he drove her back to the Ramakrishna Hospital in the city and admitted her for treatment.

According to the Ramanagara police, both of them hailed from Daalimba village near Sathanur in Ramanagara district. Though both had feelings for each other, the girl had distanced herself from Chetan after her family members opposed their relationship as they hail from different castes, the police added.

A case was registered at the Ijoor police station in Ramanagar for kidnapping and attempted murder.
