Caught in net, infant monkey rescued, reunited with mother | Delhi News


Wednesday witnessed a heartwarming rescue operation in which a 2-month-old Rhesus macaque baby monkey who had got entangled in a net was rescued and reunited with its mother. The incident took place at Guru Harkrishan Public School in Vasant Vihar where the authorities dialled up Wildlife SOS, a non-profit working in the wildlife rescue sector, to come to the aid of the monkey.

Said Kartick Satyanarayan, co-founder and CEO of Wildlife SOS: ”Every wildlife rescue operation presents unique challenges, and this was no exception. Our team’s proficiency and dedication made it possible to free the baby monkey from the net unharmed. Moments like these reinforce our commitment to safeguarding wildlife.”
Following the rescue, the infant baby was found to be healthy and was reunited with its mother who was also found nearby.

Wasim Akram, Deputy Director of Special Projects, Wildlife SOS, said, “Urban spaces often bring humans and wild animals into close proximity, leading to situations like this one.”
