Man kills brother-in-law who intervened in fight | Chandigarh News

An 18-year-old man was allegedly killed on Saturday morning by his brother-in-law in Zirakpur after the victim allegedly intervened in a domestic squabble between the couple (his brother-in-law and sister).

As per details, the incident took place early on Saturday morning, with the accused — identified as one Ajay Yadav — later threatening to die by suicide , before fleeing.

Police said they have launched a case of murder and launched investigations. Investigators identified the victim as one Nikhil Yadav (18), a resident of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh (UP). Nikhil had come to meet his sister on August 29 on rakhi. Nikhil’s sister Neha has told the police that she had recently gotten married to Ajay Yadav — who is an auto-rickshaw driver. Neha has claimed before the police that her husband used to quarrel with her over trivial issues.

On Friday night, Neha told the police, that the couple had had a fight over some monetary issue, during which her brother Nikhil had intervened. “The matter had been resolved after Nikhil’s intervention. But Ajay was angry at Nikhil,” Neha stated in her complaint.

The complaint further read that after the fight, they had retired for the night. However, around midnight, Neha claimed that she heard some screams and woke up with a start. She then went to check on Nikhil and found that Ajay in the room carrying a sharp-edged blood-stained weapon in his hand. Nikhil was lying bleeding on the floor of the same room. Neha further told the police that Ajay then told her that he was going to die by suicide and left home.
