Minors thrashed for mobile theft: Police add tough section to FIR | Chandigarh News
Police added Section 365 (abduction with the intention of secretly and wrongfully confined) of the IPC in the FIR registered against four people, who were booked for allegedly abducting, thrashing two minor boys after hanging them upright down on Thursday.
Police said the girl, who is one of the suspects, turned out to be an underage as per her Aadhaar card produced by her family members.
She was sent to a shelter home. Three other suspects identified as Vinod of Mani Majra, Rahul and another Rahul (namesake) were sent to judicial custody in Model Burail Jail on Friday.
“Section 365 of the IPC was added in the FIR after examining the legal aspects of the incident. Earlier, the FIR was registered under the bailable charges under which suspects could be released on bail immediately after the arrest from the police station,” a police officer said.
Parents of the woman, who was named in the FIR by the father of one of the victim boys, produced the Aadhaar card before the investigation agency. She was found below the age of 18 years and was sent to a shelter home, the officer said, adding that legal proceedings against her would be initiated in the Juvenile Justice Court (JJC).
Two juveniles were abducted and thrashed on the mere suspicion of mobile theft on August 25. The incident came to light when someone, who had recorded the thrashing of minors, had shown the video to father of one of the victim boys on August 27. On Wednesday, the father had lodged a police complaint furnishing the video clip alongside.

“After seeing his son along with his friend being thrashed tied upside down from a tree, the father of the victim enquired about the incident from his son, who narrated the sequence of events. The boy told him that he was threatened of dire consequences if he disclosed it to anyone,” a source said.
Further, the complainant went to the house of the underage girl, who was his niece. The girl and her parents justified the assault on the boy, forcing the minor’s father to lodge a police complaint. After finding her cell phone missing, the underage girl had called her fiance, who abducted the victim with the assistance of two of his friends, the source added.
A case was registered at the IT Park police station.
