The Indian cricket team arrived at Pune airport around 4.30 pm on Sunday, a day after the Bangladesh cricket team reached the city. The Indian team’s arrival followed their impressive victory over Pakistan by seven wickets at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
Next week, Pune is set to make history by hosting its inaugural World Cup match, commencing with the showdown between India and Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Stadium in Gahunje on Thursday.
As per information given by the venue manager, the Indian team is set to be accommodated at JW Marriott on SP Road, while the Bangladesh team will stay at Conrad hotel. “The team left Ahmedabad earlier today and arrived in Pune in preparation for the upcoming match set for October 19. The team manager has conveyed that there are no scheduled media interactions or public engagements at this time. Both teams will begin their practice session after a one-day rest, from Tuesday onwards,” he said.
Following the Indian team’s arrival at the airport, fans assembled to catch a glimpse of the players and extended a warm welcome to the team. The joy and excitement on the faces of the crowd were evident, especially after a highly spirited match between India and Pakistan. The fans enthusiastically greeted the team with resounding chants of “India, India” and “well-played.”
The Indian cricket coach, Rahul Dravid, and K L Rahul were the first to make their appearance after getting out of the airport, while Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were the last as they followed the rest of the Indian team. Cricket enthusiasts were observed filming and snapping photos as the team.
India’s journey in the 2023 World Cup continues with a seven-wicket victory against Pakistan. With this win, India has secured three victories, having triumphed over Australia and Afghanistan in the past week. Currently, India stands among just three undefeated teams in the tournament, alongside New Zealand and South Africa. Additionally, India has claimed the top spot in the standings by boosting their net run rate (NRR) higher than that of New Zealand.
