Actor Alia Bhatt’s elder sister and author, Shaheen Bhatt was overwhelmed seeing her sister dressed as a bride on her wedding day. So much so, that she has no idea how her parents Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan reacted to the beautiful moment.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Shaheen revisited the day when Alia got married to Ranbir Kapoor. When asked what was her parents’ reaction, Shaheen said, “I don’t know because I couldn’t see. I just had tears in my eyes. I couldn’t see anything. So, for me, it was a really overwhelming and emotional moment. It was a beautiful moment but I actually have no idea how everyone else was dealing with it because I was so overwhelmed myself.”
Shaheen and Alia are emotionally very close to each other. Shaheen has often spoken about Alia being her pillar of strength when she was dealing with depression.
Now, Alia is a mother of daughter Raha and is living with her husband Ranbir. Shaheen said that though she misses living with Alia, they still spend a lot of time together.
“Of course, I miss it (living with Alia), but I spend a lot of time with her, as much time as I possibly can with my family. We make it a point to do that, so I definitely miss it but I think that we are making up for it,” said Shaheen.
Recently, when Alia won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film Gangubai Kathiawadi, Shaheen cheered for her in an Instagram post.
She posted a clip of Alia receiving the award and wrote in the caption, “Bursting with more pride than I knew I could feel. This moment represents more than professional success – it’s a reflection of your values and every hard-won quality that makes you who you are @aliaabhatt.Best. Day.” To this, Alia replied, “What would I have done without you.”
