EA Sports FC 24 ‘had over 14.5m active accounts’ in its first four weeks

Electronic Arts has provided an update on the performance of EA Sports FC 24 during the game’s launch month.

The publisher announced last May that it was ending a near 30-year partnership with FIFA and that it planned to launch a new football brand, EA Sports FC.

The series debuted in September with EA Sports FC 24, which attracted “more than 11.3 million players worldwide, including through EA Play”, during its first week of availability, the company said last month.

In its second quarter earnings results, which were published on Wednesday, EA said that within the first four weeks of its global launch, the game “had over 14.5 million active accounts”.

Commenting on its performance, EA CEO Andrew Wilson said the company had “successfully launched EA Sports FC, transforming one of the largest franchises in the world into a powerful, interactive platform for the future of football fandom”.

“The successful launch of EA Sports FC represents a profound achievement,” he added during the company’s earnings call.

Players who’ve logged in to EA Sports FC 24 by the end of today will be able to claim a free Erling Haaland item in Ultimate Team in December.

“EA Sports FC 24 isn’t the huge departure that we’d hoped for,” VGC’s review of the game concluded. “While Ultimate Team devotees will likely be happy, the rest of the game feels like an afterthought in the transition away from the FIFA license.”
