Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, who has faced several disappointments recently, is looking forward to some promising upcoming films. Among them, Barroz: Guardian of Treasures holds significant importance as it marks his directorial debut as well.
The fantasy film, written by Jijo Punnoose, renowned for scripting the iconic My Dear Kuttichathan/Chhota Chetan, based on his novel Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure, also features Guru Somasundaram, Cesar Lorente Raton, Ignacio Mateos, and Kallirroi Tziafeta, with Mohanlal himself taking on the titular character.
Although initially planned for a December release this year, it has been confirmed that the movie will be out only next year. Unveiling a fresh poster with Mohanlal in the Barroz outfit, the makers recently announced that it will hit the screens on March 28, 2023, coinciding with the start of the summer holidays.
The movie, shot in 3D format, boasts a team of highly skilled technicians, including Santosh Sivan as the cinematographer, B Ajithkumar as the editor, TK Rajeev Kumar as the creative head, Santhosh Raman handling the art direction, Lydian Nadhaswaram composing the music and Jakkrit Kanokpodjananon overseeing the stunts, among others.
Drishyam director Jeethu Joseph’s Mohanlal film to hit screens in December
Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s second and only other film this year, Neru, helmed by Drishyam director Jeethu Joseph, recently got a release date and is set to hit the screens during the Christmas season. Sharing a new poster of the movie on social media, Mohanlal wrote: “The legal battle commences on 21-12-2023. Get ready for the world of “Neru,” where justice takes centre stage!”
This means that Neru is also joining the Christmas movie battle, where Rajkumar Hirani’s Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Dunki and Prashanth Neel’s Prabhas-starrer Salaar Part 1 – Ceasefire are already dominating.
