US Ambassador Eric Garcetti dances to ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ during Diwali celebrations | Trending News


Eric Garcetti, the US ambassador to India, celebrated Diwali by donning a traditional outfit and dancing to the iconic song ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ from Dil Se during an event organised by the embassy in New Delhi.

The US embassy took to X, formerly Twitter, to share a video showcasing the festivities. Garcetti thanked the embassy for “making life full of light every single day”.

“Delighted to celebrate #Diwali with dance, food and music with my colleagues for the first time here in India! At this auspicious time, may the festival of light bring you happiness and prosperity in the new year!” he wrote while sharing the video on X.

Satnam Singh Sandhu, founder chancellor of Chandigarh University, shared a video of the US ambassador, donning a kurta pyjama, dancing to the iconic song that featured Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora.

“I applaud the jovial spirit of US Ambassador to India, Mr. @ericgarcetti, for showing delightful interest in Diwali celebrations. Let there be light and happiness in the relationship of US and India like this forever!” he wrote on X.

“Happy Diwali Ambassador Garcetti, the Shahrukh Khan of US Embassy,” an X user commented. “Surprisingly, You’re such a good dancer!!” another person said.

Last month, Garcetti shared a video of himself visiting a Durga Puja pandal in Delhi’s Chittaranjan Park, where he relished some Bengali street food, participated in the puja ceremony and performed dhunuchi naach, dedicated to goddess Durga. It is believed that the goddess danced with dhunuchi, which is a clay incense burner used during aarti, to channel her energy.
