World Cup finals: Chandigarh microbreweries, hotels to bowl over fans with ‘crickety’ menu, ambience | Chandigarh News

The stage is all set for Sunday when India will face Australia at the World Cup Cricket finals at 2 pm in Ahmedabad. But Chandigarh’s microbreweries and hotels are all set to transform themselves into virtual cricket stadiums to lure fans with their unique ambience and customised menu to watch the high-tension match.

At the JW Marriot, sector 35, arrangements have been made at their Brew House.

“For the Cricket World Cup 2023, our in-house microbrewery, 35 BrewHouse will offer outdoor live screenings alongside exclusive combos featuring freshly brewed drinks and delectable Indian cricket-themed cuisine. The entire restaurant will be adorned with cricket-themed decorations for an immersive experience. Also the choice of fresh brews and cricket-themed food combo will be available only during the match,” said Sanjeev Ranjan, director of Food and Beverage from JW Marriott informed The Indian Express.

From ‘Captain Keema’ to ‘Out of Stadium’, to ‘Innings Break’ to ‘Out of Six’, a cricket-themed menu has been prepared.

The Lalit Hotel at IT Park has made arrangements for its guests at the Al Fresco dining area with a large screen that has been put up in outdoor with a view of the forests.

Festive offer

A senior official at the Lalit said, “We have made a cricket-themed environment entirely and at the same time people should enjoy the view as well.”

Ankit Gupta, president of Chandigarh Hospitality Association, said that not just they have customised the menu at Hotel Himanis in Sector 35 as per the cricket world, but also created a stadium-like atmosphere for the fans.

“Apart from a stadium-like setting with surround sound, the lounge has been decked up with World Cup collaterals. There would be live band/drummers and a special menu too which is just customised as per the cricket fever,” Ankit Gupta said.

He added there will be free give-aways like Team India T- Shirts for customers. “We have put out life-size cutouts of players. Being Sunday, everyone has their off day, and we have tried to make it exciting for everyone,” Gupta said.

The special customised menu for the fans has a range of items such as Kitkat helicopter shake, watermelon googly juice, beer straight drive punch, punch lord thakur cocktail, veg sweep burger to veg smooth man gill platter, among others.

At Peddlers in Sector 35, three big screens have been put up. Vipul who owns Peddlers said, “We also have Dhol live along with DJ and three big screens. We have also made decoration accordingly.”

Arrangements are being made by Sector 17 Plaza as well by the market association to prepare for public live screening as the police have made permission mandatory.

Shopkeepers have collaborated and collected around Rs 90,000 to arrange a large screen at the central plaza.

Neeraj Bagga, president of the Chandigarh Business Council, sector 17, told The Indian Express that those who come to watch the match would be given a welcome drink, like a hot coffee, once their permission is confirmed. “This is that time of the season when even the one who is not a cricket fan would definitely want to see the match, because, after all, it is the World cup final and our team is right there playing. We want to cheer for our country and what can be a better place than the plaza,” he said.

Even local residents have made arrangements to watch the cricket finals with their friends and relatives.

Rohit Ajmani, co founder of the Idea Clan, has made the basement of his house ready with a home theatre. “I have invited all my friends and family. We all are really excited for the match,” Rohit said.
