New Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War details have seemingly leaked

Fresh details about 2024’s Call of Duty game have seemingly leaked.

Backing up previous reports, Windows Central sources claim the unannounced game is a new Black Ops title set in the early 1990s during the Gulf War, with development being led by Treyarch.

It will reportedly seek to “explore a nuanced narrative of the Gulf War, with a critical focus on different participants within the conflict”.

And it will “lean back into more traditional military combat technology and familiar Black Ops gadgetry as opposed to the current and near-future tech we’ve seen from Modern Warfare and some other recent Call of Duty titles”.

It’s been claimed that the game’s multiplayer offering could include a large number of classic maps from the Black Ops series, while the round-based Zombies game mode which first appeared in Treyarch’s Call of Duty titles could also return.

Windows Central reports that Activision is exploring the possibility of offering a lengthy early access period as a pre-order bonus, with several days for the base game and possibly weeks for Zombies.

The game is expected to be released in late fall or early winter 2024.

Concept art for the title seemingly appeared online last year after it was discovered in the files of the Call of Duty Warzone mobile app. It appeared to show an F-117 jet fighter, a stealth attack aircraft which played a key role in the Gulf War.

Activision president Rob Kostich recently said the company has Call of Duty games planned out through 2027, and that 3,000 developers are currently working on the franchise.

The latest entry in the series, Modern Warfare 3, was released earlier this month. Earlier today, Walmart cut the Modern Warfare 3 price as part of its Black Friday deals.
