CAT 2023: IIM Kozhikode revises admission policy, gives more weightage to gender diversity | Education News

CAT 2023: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode has revised its admission policy for admission to its postgraduate programme for the 2024-26 session. Although the scores of the Common Admission Test (CAT) will carry 45 per cent weightage for shortlisting the candidates for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and personal interview (PI), gender diversity and academic have been assigned a 10 per cent and five per cent weightage, respectively. Last year, both these components collectively accounted for just 10 per cent of candidate shortlisting.

IIM Kozhikode adopts a three-staged selection process. Clearing the first stage would require a candidate under the general category to score a minimum CAT score percentile of 85 with a 75 sectional percentile. Scoring 60 per cent marks in Class 10 and Class 12 is also mandatory.

To be considered eligible for the second stage and be called for the written ability test (WAT) and personal interview (PI), a candidate must fulfil certain criteria. Candidates will be shortlisted in each category on the basis of an Aggregate Index Score (AIS). The AIS is computed based on the performance in CAT 2023, Class 10, Class 12, gender and academic diversity criterion and work experience.

Scaled scores from the three sections with equal weightages of CAT 2023 will be considered for the computation of the CAT index score in the second state. The CAT index score will carry a weight of 45 per cent. While Class 10 and Class 12 percentage scores will carry 25 and 15 per cent weightages respectively, the gender and academic diversity scores will carry 10 per cent and five per cent weigtages. Five per cent weight has been allotted for work experience.

IIM Admissions 2024: What is gender/ academic diversity?

Marks are awarded for gender/academic diversity. Only female and transgender candidates are eligible for a gender diversity score of 10. A candidate with a bachelor’s degree or pursuing it in a discipline other than engineering and technology will be eligible for the academic diversity score of 5. A candidate is entitled to only one of two applicable diversity scores, from either gender diversity or academic diversity and not for both.

Festive offer

After the conclusion of the WAT and PI processes, IIM Kozhikode will shortlist the candidates for final merit based on their performances in CAT 2023, PI, WAT and resume score. While the CAT 2023 index score will carry a 35 per cent weightage in this phase, the PI, WAT and resume scores will carry 35, 20 and 10 per cent respectively.
