Director Sasikumar says not enough

Producer Ke Gnanavelraja has issued a statement after receiving severe backlash for his comments against director Ameer. The Studio Green founder has been critical of Ameer in an interview with Behindwoods, which has led to condemnations from directors and producers of the Tamil film industry including iconic filmmaker Bharathiraja. Now, in a statement released on the official X account of Studio Green, the producer said that he repents certain comments about Ameer.

The statement read, “Paruthiveeran issue has been ongoing for the past 17 years, and I have never spoken about it. I have always referred to him as Ameer Anna (brother). I have socialised with his family very closely. Recently, his statements about me in recent interviews hurt me deeply. In reaction to that, I used some words. If they had hurt him, I repent it wholeheartedly. I respect the film industry and the people in it who keep me alive. Thanks.”

However, his statement has not gone down well with director Sasikumar, who earlier supported Ameer and criticised Gnanavelraja for his statements. In a social media post, Sasikumar asked several questions about Gnanavel’s statement. He asked, “What are the false allegations Ameer made against Gnanavel? ‘I used some words. If they had hurt him’ What are those words? After humiliating a person purposefully, what kind of repenting is this? What is Gnanavel trying to tell Ameer with this statement? Who is that recipient-less letter for?”

Festive offer

Director Ameer, in an interview with Behindwoods, claimed that Gnanavelraja was the reason behind the loss he incurred while making Paruthiveeran. The director has also revealed that he has filed a case against Gnanavel claiming rights over the film as he has put in his money for finishing the project

Gnanvelraja claimed that Ameer overshot the budget with Paruthiveeran and learnt filmmaking only with the movie. He also claimed that director Sudha Kongara said Ameer doesn’t know filmmaking after watching Ram. Many such statement has landed him in trouble as many known personalities of Tamil cinema has come out against such personal attacks on Ameer.

Ameer hasn’t reacted to Gnanavel’s statement yet.
