Paresh Rawal and son Aditya train together with the electrifying EMS workout | Fitness News


Embarking on a fitness journey doesn’t always mean flying solo. The prospect of having a workout partner can not only provide companionship but also serve as a source of motivation and healthy competition. As such, we recently saw actor Paresh Rawal and his son Aditya Rawal serving fitness goals with an EMS workout.

The Pilates Studio by Namrata Purohit shared a glimpse of the duo working out. “Two generations, one electrifying workout!” it read in a post on Instagram. “@pareshrawalofficial and @aditya___rawal redefine fitness bonding with their energetic EMS session at @thepilatesstudiomumbai,” it added.

The post also mentioned, “This is the beauty of EMS – 2 people can train together but they train as per their individual fitness levels and goals. It’s just you and the machine. Train smart!”

What is the EMS workout?

EMS, or Electro Muscle Stimulation, training involves the use of electrical impulses to stimulate muscles, causing them to contract. “This type of training is often used in fitness and rehabilitation. During EMS training, electrodes are placed on the skin, and electrical impulses are delivered to the muscles, mimicking the natural process of muscle contraction. This can enhance muscle strength, improve endurance, and potentially speed up recovery,” said fitness expert Garima Goyal.

EMS can be used for active recovery sessions, facilitating blood flow to aid in the removal of waste products from muscles and potentially reducing post-exercise soreness, Goyal added.

It’s crucial to note that EMS should be done under the guidance of trained professionals to ensure safety and effectiveness. Goyal explained that the intensity, frequency, and duration of these impulses can be adjusted based on the individual’s fitness goals and comfort level.

Is it a replacement for traditional training methods?

EMS is known for its efficiency in engaging a large number of muscle fibres simultaneously, which can lead to more intense muscle contractions compared to traditional training methods. “This makes it a time-efficient option for those with busy schedules,” said Goyal.

Having said that, EMS should be used as a supplement rather than a replacement for traditional exercise. “Additionally, caution is advised for individuals with certain health conditions such as heart problems or epilepsy, and consultation with a healthcare professional or fitness expert is recommended before starting an EMS training program,” Goyal said.

Pregnant women and individuals with skin conditions at the electrode placement sites should also consult with healthcare professionals before starting EMS.
